But who is this person that needs solving? This separate self is like a mask we wear to navigate a world that demands constant interaction, a world that is loud, aggressive, and overstimulating. We feel the weight of social masking, the exhaustion of pretending to be someone for the sake of others, and the constant anxiety of being judged. But what if there was nothing to protect? The noise of the world feels aggressive because we believe there is a "me" that can be harmed by it. We seek refuge in privacy and silence, hoping to find a way to reach a state of peace. But enlightenment is not a destination. It is not a place you arrive at after years of practice. There is no path to what you already are. The idea of a spiritual journey is just another story the separate self tells to keep itself busy. If you are already the absolute, how can you move toward it? A wave doesn't need to travel across the ocean to become water; it is already water, whether it is crashing violently or resting in stillness. It is perfectly fine to say that sitting in silence may bring comfort now. It can lower the volume of the social anxiety that plagues the body-mind. But we must be honest: meditation is not a ladder to the absolute. It will not make you "more" enlightened. There is no such thing as being "more" or "less" aware. You either are, or you are. The separate self loves the idea of progress because progress implies a future where it will finally be happy, finally be safe, and finally be "enlightened." But the future is a ghost. There is only this—this immediate, unmediated conscious presence. Who told you that you needed to be different? Who said that you had to interact, to chat, to register, or to prove your worth? The social world is a game of masks, but here, in the recognition of what you already are, no questions are asked.
