The Myth of the Energy Body and What is Chakra Healing Beyond the Seeker
Explore the radical reality of presence. Understand why chakra healing and spiritual seeking are just reflections in the mind, while what you are is already her
One of the most frequent questions that arises in this noisy, overstimulated world is the search for a way out, a way to fix the body-mind, or a way to finally feel "right." We hear terms like energy centers and subtle physiology, and we find ourselves asking, what is chakra healing in the context of this immediate reality? We imagine that by working on these points—from the base of the spine to the crown—we might finally reach a state of grace or enlightenment. But we have to be frank with each other. If we are looking for a path, we have already missed the fact that there is no distance to travel. We often hear stories of great figures, those who seemed to radiate a powerful energy. There are accounts of people sitting in the presence of someone like Nisargadatta or Ramana Maharshi and feeling something ecstatic, an intensity that defies words. It is easy to label this as a special power or a spiritual achievement, but is it? Or is it simply what happens when the wall of the separate self becomes thin? We can think of the separate self as a solid wall. When a "hole" appears in that wall—when the egoic structure isn't claiming every moment—the natural energy of aware presence circulates more freely. It isn't that a "person" is giving you something. It is that a field is created where the illusion of separation momentarily softens. This intensity isn't a goal to be reached; it is a reflection of the absolute that is always here, whether we feel it or not. When we talk about the body-mind, we might discuss the mula chakra at the base of the spine as the seat of vitality. Some say that when this center flickers, the physical manifestation is nearing its end. But even this is just a description of the film playing on the screen. The screen itself—conscious presence—doesn't flicker. It doesn't move. It doesn't need healing. What is chakra healing, then, if not a temporary comfort for the body-mind? It is perfectly fine for meditation or energetic work to make the body-mind feel more relaxed or less anxious. In a world that demands constant masking and social performance, finding a moment of stillness is a kindness to the system. But we must not mistake this comfort for a ladder to the absolute. The absolute isn't at the top of a ladder; it is the ladder, the climber, and the floor beneath them. There is a common misunderstanding that comprehension is the same as clarity. We listen to talks, we read books, and we think, "Now I understand." But comprehension is just a mental event. It is like the light of the sun reflecting off a mirror. The reflection is bright, and it can certainly help eliminate the unnecessary suffering of a confused mind, but the reflection is not the sun itself. Clarity is the auto-evident light of reality that doesn't require a mind to grasp it. This is why some say that what we are talking about isn't a mental event at all, but an energetic shift—a falling away of the one who thinks they are in control.
